Coffee Hour: Wetland Birds of the Eastern US

We've all seen birds that stop us in our tracks on nature walks—majestic birds relaxing on the water or swooping down for some food. But how many of us know what type of bird we are looking at or precisely what they are doing? Join us as we host Matt Valencic of the Audubon Society of Greater Cleveland as he takes us on a tour of the Wetlands of the Eastern US and teaches us about the wildlife living in this habitat spanning from Massachusetts to Ohio.

About Matt Valencic

Presented by Matthew Valencic of the Audubon Society of Greater Cleveland. Matt Valencic’s love of the outdoors began with a childhood of fishing, hunting and ‘hanging out’ in the woods. During college, he saw his first Blackburnian Warbler and has been ‘chasing birds’ ever since. He started taking pictures of birds about 15 years ago and amassed quite a catalog by the time he retired in 2015. Those pictures help create several programs about the birds of Northeast Ohio which he presents as a member of The Audubon Society of Greater Cleveland. Matt and his wife, Patti, live on a small hobby farm in Geauga County with two horses, a dog and a large vegetable garden. They have three adult children and seven grandchildren.
